Subject: remarkable meditation on war American style
I cannot be sarcastic or flippant about this short documentary. The speaker is expressing honest and vivid experiences about his involvement in the Iraq invasion. This war was the war Bush Sr. said would kick the Vietnam syndrome in the butt. But history just isn't so simple. Now we have an Iraq war syndrome, and a whole national institution of denial. Thanks to Herter and Marine artillery sergeant Joel Oyer for this. What an eye opener.

Subject: Insightful
This is a poignant video from a very insightful, articulate, intelligent young man. The transition of his viewpoint from one of feeling that we were doing a good thing by "liberating" the people of Iraq from a life of oppression by a cruel despot and, in a way, "gifting" them with the opportunity to have a democratic government, to realizing that the Bush administration had ulterior motives in the hostile takeover of Iraq, and that by doing so,has left the Iraqi people in a worse predicament than before we went swooping down on them like a big old bird from hell. I'd like to know what he thinks now, in 2014, about what has transpired in Iraq & Afghanistan, and how our own country has gone to hell in a handbasket. I'd really be interested in seeing more videos like this and it's too bad the website associated with this video is no longer operating.

The Marine, Joel O. is truly a honest and clear thinking American. Thanks for his testimony of what he has witnessed firsthand!

Subject: I was in the Marines
and it was hell. Especially with knowing all the crap that was going on with the 'deciders'. My commander constantly beat this one kid in our platoon. It was disgusting and I couldn't do anything about it.

Subject: whaddya know - more truth from the source.
we need to see more interviews of the men and women who have been directly involved with the war - to get their side of the story.

Then, perhaps the pro-war folk in America (who believe that Iraq is being 'liberated' by the USA) will see that war is never a good thing; it is the product of fear and anger....which creates an equal reaction from not only the 'liberated' people but from many others who believe that countries should NOT be pushing their power on others.

Subject: yeh..
the war was a stupid idea... i mean.. WE THOUGHT THEY HAD WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. im not saying they dont but.. unless evil aliens hijaked they nukes and bio chemical weps or evil minions of hell came and stole them for armegeddon. i really doubt they do. the Iraq War was a flaw in intelligence, stupidity, and/or dumb revenge.

PS i dont blame them failing. its kinda hard to win when u actually have to aim EXTREMELY CAREFUL. you basically cant use any heavy tanks, artilllary, or anything that blow up more that 1 square feet. Also when there a truck going 60 miles per hour packed with a ton of explosives its kinda scary.

PSS.. i mean msot of the terroists and insurgents dont even come from iraq..
